Rupin Pass is a high altitude pass across the Himalayan mountain range in state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It lies on a traditional shepherd and hiking route which starts from Jakha Village and ends in Sangla, Himachal Pradesh. It is located across an uninhabited area at an elevation of 15,250 ft. (4,650M) above sea level. The trails dug out of rocks and wooden bridges, cutting through deep dark folds in the mountain, glaciers and icy slopes, and over snow covered fields.

Itinerary:-

Day 01 – Shimla – Bhauta (Approx. 210 Kms 12hrs)

Gather at Shimla at Pre-decided place and start your journey at 06:00 am. Enroute you will see places like Kufri, Fagu, Theog and Kharapathar. After Rohru, enter the Pabbar valley. Drive through Chansal pass to reach the Bhauta village. Evening snack, tea will be served as you reach the campsite/home-stay. Dinner and overnight stay at Bhauta.

Day 02:- Bhauta – Jiskoon – Jakha (Approx. 5 Kms walk; 4-5 hrs.)

Post breakfast, start the trek from 08:00 am. Cross through the village to reach Jakha village. Enroute, take stops to admire the beautiful valley. Reach Jakha till afternoon. Have lunch and take rest. In the evening take a walk to the nearby village for acclimatization. Bonfire, Dinner and Overnight stay at Jakha village.

Day 3 – Jakha to Lower waterfall Camps (10-12 Kms, Approx. 8 hrs.)

Start early by 07:00 am. Move towards Dhanderas Thach campsite, also known as lower waterfall campsite. Enter a forest gradually, and as you cross the forest you will walk along the Rupin River to reach the lower waterfall campsite. Enroute you take lunch. Evening snacks and tea will be served as you reach camps. Dinner and overnight stay at camps.

Day 4– Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall Camp (3-4 hrs.)

Start early today. The altitude from Dhanderas to Upper water fall camp is about 4000 meters. Make your way to the snow patch of first waterfall. Reach the campsite. Evening snacks and Dinner will be served. Dinner and Overnight stay at Campsite.

Day 5: Upper water fall to Rupin Pass Base Camp (3-4 Kms, 04 hrs.)

Start by 08:00 am post breakfast. A trek of approx. 3-4 kms will take you to the base camp of Rupin Pass. Have your lunch while enjoying the scenic beauty of Rupin Pass. Dinner.

Day 6: Base camp to Rupin Pass to Ronti Gad (Approx. 08 Kms, 8 hrs.):-

One of the difficult days of this trek. Start early morning by 05:00 am as you have to cover a long distance. Rupin Pass cut from a hollow shaped region marks the beginning of Dhauladhar Range. Way to Ronti Gad is a gentle walk followed by a sharp descent. Camping at the coldest yet charming campsite amidst the mountains covered with snow.

Day 7: Ronti Gad to Sangla via Sangla Kanda:-

The trail starts with a gentle climb and then a walk heading to Ronti Gad valley. After losing an altitude of about 1500 ft., exit the narrow valley and open up to the astounding views of Mt. Kinner Kailash. From this point you can view your next halt i.e. Lake of Sangla Kanda. Relax, and enjoy the sights of the Sangla Kanda Lake. Reach Sangla till evening. Dinner and Overnight stay at Sangla.

Day 8: Sangla – Shimla

Post breakfast, depart to Shimla by cab.

Drop at Shimla.

Note:

  • The itinerary is subject to favourable road and weather conditions. We will do the best to make alternative arrangements in case of bad weather and inaccessibility to the destination before or after the tour has begun. The cost of the tour or any part of it will not be refunded in an event of unfavourable conditions anytime during the tour days, after the tour begins.
  • Participants will be expected to fill out a medical and disclaimer form in front of a medical assistant provided by us on first day and submit it before the trek starts.
  • Hope you are working out for that. It is advisable to run and walk at least 7-8 kms a day.
